Show The Best Of Your German Rottweiler
You should know a few things before trying your hand at a Rottweiler dog show. There are tips and tricks to everything, and Rottweiler shows are no exception. So, firstly you need to know a few things and do your homework.
For each breed in dog shows there is what is called a breed standard. This is basically a description against which all dogs of that breed are measured. How closely you fit that description will determine if you will do OK in the ring instead of being laughed out of it.
Once you pass the breed standard comparison then you are ready to learn a few other tricks. One is to get your dog to spark up in the ring, to show the judge your dog at its best. You probably have noticed many helpers shaking toys and making noise in one corner of the ring. This is to get the dog to spark, stnad allert, attentive. Because the judge will ne looking for this in the dog. So if you dont have a toy the dog loves to attack or chew then start teaching it to before you enter.
Train the dog to want a toy if you haven’t already done so. You will want the dog to show a spark that the judge will see. Depending upon the judge you can vary this attitude to suit. So you will need to know the judge. Check his or her history. What kind of dog did the judge like in previous shows? Was it a working type dog, one that is fit and likes to run? Or was the judge favoring dogs with muscle and lots of attitude? Or perhaps a more gentle but responsive dog? You will want to know this before you even bother to enter in a show so that you don’t waste your time and effort. You can use this information to plan what you want to show in the ring.
So your research can determine if you turn up to the show. If you decide to go anyway it will also help you to focus on areas your dog is not strong in. You may want to temper your teasing with a toy so that your dog doesnt get too excited, or you may need to do the opposite. Despite all this you may just plain like entering shows.
