How to choose safe and fun dog toys

Safety first

Whatever toy you choose for your dog, choose well, considering the toy should be fun to play with, but also durable and safe. There are many factors that determine the safety of the toy and that is not just the durability but also the size of your dog and the way your dog plays with the toys. The toys we dog owners are usually most attracted to are the adorable ones, the ones with funny shapes, colors and even nice smelling toys. Nevertheless these are often the toys with which we should be careful because of the little parts that can come off or the soft material your dog can chew on, sometimes the toys are just too small and your dog can choke on them. Things to keep in mind

  • Size of the toy should be right for the size of the dog.

  • Watch out for pieces that can come off (eyes, noses)

  • Is your dog a chewer? Make sure that it's sturdy material.

  • Soft, plush, and squeaky toys are fine, if you have a careful dog. Most of these toys are for dogs that don't shake, tear, or chew on their toys. But there are plenty of good toys available for those dogs that do.

Pay attention to with what you buy and stay with your dog if you have any doubt about how your dog is going to play with his new toy.
