Help your dog through the moulting season |

Dogs shed their winter coats in the spring that is replaced with a lighter coat to keep them cool in the summer. And they also shed their summer coats in autumn to make way for their heavy thicker coat to keep them warm for the winter. And there is nothing that will stop a dog moulting, but you can make things better by regular grooming in this periods.
Moulting lasts between four and six weeks and a new coat takes three to
four months to re-grow. In the days before the dog's domestication,
moulting was stimulated by seasonal changes in temperature and daylight
hours. And most dogs still naturally do this just two times a year.
Helping your dog by grooming should only be done during this two
periods. When you brush your dog all year round the natural seasonal
moulting periods will disappear and you will find hair all year round.
You
could start combing or brushing your dog everyday with a rubber
grooming glove during moulting season. I tend to use a variety of
different brushes, rakes and combs on my dogs. A bath when they are at
the height of their moult (no soap) will help to. If you can, and I do
this to my dogs, get your dog used to a vacuum sound and use the small
brush mode to suck up the fluff.
